Lester G. Fitch

Lester "Bucky" Fitch. 91, of Canterbury passed away peacefully, at home August 11, 2025. He was the loving husband of the late Carol Fitch. Born in Norwich, Connecticut. He was the son of the late Lester R. Fitch and Charlotte (Pilling) Fitch. He was the oldest of 10 children.

Mr. Fitch proudly served in the Navy, then worked for the State of Connecticut as a surveyor for many years. This is where he made many of his life long friends. Some of whom, he had breakfast with weekly for many years. Proudly, he stayed very active in the local VFW. He was the treasurer there for many years.

Lester met the love of his life Carol, and they spent many happy years together. They built a beautiful life and family together. They made sure to live life to the fullest in their retirement. Many years were spent traveling to their happy place, Aruba. Here they were surround by family and friends, making loads of unforgettable memories. When Lester and Carol weren't vacationing with Family and friends, they were hosting them at their annual Fourth of July picnic. This picnic was held for almost 50 years at the Fitch home.

Lester is survived by his children, Sarah, Keith, and Lester II. Grandchildren; Haley, Charlotte, Hillary, Zachary, Curtis, and Stacey. Great grandchildren; Emelia and Cecelia. Siblings; Charlotte, Holly, Fran, and Durwin.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Lester's family from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Dougherty Brothers Funeral Home, 595 Norwich Road, Plainfield, CT, followed by a burial in Lovett Cemetery,Sprague, CT. Memorial donations may be made to Canterbury VFW.
