Lester Cornelius HELM

HELM, Lester Cornelius, 87, resident of Chesterfield County, Va., departed this life on September 15, 2009. He was born in Stone, Kentucky on April 2, 1922 to the late Joseph and Annie Helm and was one of seven children. He later lived in Oak Hill, West Va. and owned and operated a small grocery store in Minden, West Va. until moving to the Chesterfield area of Virginia in 1979. He was an Army veteran, having served overseas during World War II. He was preceded in death by a son, Walter Helm of Hopewell, Virginia. He is survived by a brother, Jack Helm of Marietta, Ohio; and two sisters, Jean Helm and Yvonne Leach of Shady Springs, West Va. He is also survived one daughter, Janice Troch of Chesterfield, Va.; and by two sons, Joseph Helm and Richard Helm and wife, Shannon, all of Salisbury, North Carolina. He leaves seven grandchildren, Derek Story, Dustin Story and wife, Brandie, Michelle and Melinda Blake, James Helm and wife, Tracy, Joshua Helm and wife, Tara, Lyndsey Earnhardt and husband, Daniel, Ryan, Catherine, and Caylinn Helm; 10 great-grandchildren, Katie, Drew, Racheal and Lucy Helm, Judd Blake, Lexie and Blake Story, Deja'Leigh Helm and Alexa Earnhardt, and Joshua Helm Jr. Lester attended Tomahawk Baptist Church in Chesterfield County, Va. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 21, 2009 in the Chapel of Tomahawk Baptist Church, 12920 Hull Street Road, Midlothian, Va. 23112.
