Lester Bryant Holloway, a cherished husband, devoted father, and beloved grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Stillwater, Oklahoma, on November 10, 2025. Born on August 26, 1930, in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Ralph Lester and Myrtle (Lusk) Holloway, Lester lived a remarkable 95 years, marked by a profound kindness that touched all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A proud veteran, Lester honorably served in the United States Navy for 20 years, where he reached the rank of 1st Class Petty Officer. He served aboard many ships including U.S.S John A. Bole (DD755), U.S.S Wedderburn (DD 684), and U.S.S. Kitty Hawk (CVA-63). His dedication during the Vietnam War earned him many medals, an enduring testament to his valor and commitment to his country.

After his military service, Lester transitioned into a fulfilling career at the Kerr McGee Oil Corporation, where he dedicated 20 years to the organization. In his role, he was responsible for maintaining regulatory records for oil field operations, a position he undertook with diligence and integrity.

Lester graduated from Pioneer High School in Chickasha in 1948. He had fondness for literature, particularly the western novels of Louis L'Amour and Zane Gray.

Lester’s heart was most resonant in his devotion to his family. He married De Etta Kraybill on May 29, 1970, in Oklahoma City, forming a partnership that flourished with love and support. Together, they traveled after their retirement, exploring the beauty of the country and creating lasting memories. Their journeys were marked by a shared joy—one that was evident to all who knew them.

A man of many talents, Lester enjoyed woodworking and was particularly adept at crafting small pieces that complemented De Etta’s artistic designs around the home. He also embraced a passion for sports cars, sharing moments of excitement and adventure with family and friends.

Lester was blessed with a loving family who will carry his spirit forward. He is survived by his devoted wife, De Etta; his daughter, Jo Ann Hess of Kingston, Oklahoma; grandchildren Jeremy Lunsford of Collinsville, Oklahoma, Tiffany Stroope (Chris) of Frierson, Louisiana, and Brandi Fuller (Matt) of Wisconsin; and great-grandchildren Lily, Jack, Bryant, Austin, Lakelea, Eastyn, Tevyn, Thayer, and Tydus.

He was predeceased by his parents and four siblings: Joe Holloway, Vera Lee Meeks, Ruby Watkins, and Pearl Todd. Their memories remain a cherished part of his legacy.

Lester’s gracious spirit, his humor, and his unwavering love will be profoundly missed by all. A Celebration of Life will be held at Dighton-Marler Funeral Home on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 2:30 PM, followed by an inurnment at Sunset Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Rev. Justin Beadles will officiate.
