Lester Isaacs Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ingram Funeral Home - Marysville on Aug. 30, 2025.

Lester E. Isaacs, age 77, of Marysville, passed peacefully on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus surrounded by his loving family, following a recent illness.

On March 9, 1948, Lester was born in Columbus, Ohio, the fifth of thirteen children of the late John Sherman Isaacs Sr. and Myrtle Louise (Spain) Isaacs. He grew up in the Bellefontaine area, and graduated from Middleburg High School.

Following graduation, Lester was drafted to serve his beloved country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. While stationed in Vietnam, he drove trucks for the military.

Upon his honorable discharge, Lester returned home to Ohio and made his way to the Marysville area. Throughout most of his life, he embraced being self-employed – spending many years behind the wheel of a semi-truck. For ten plus years, he worked for Prorite Muffler in Marysville. Though his last eleven years of work were his favorite, working alongside his son, Lester Jr, running their automotive repair business together, Mobile Mechanics.

Over the years, one of Lester's favorite pastimes has been fishing. He always loved to fix a car or truck on the side of the road, only to then head straight to the nearest pond to cast a line and make it a fishing adventure too. After all, what's better than fixing a flat tire and then catching a big one? He enjoyed mushroom hunting and trapping. He also was a big Cleveland Indians fan (not Guardians), still calling them the "Wahoos", and he enjoyed watching The Ohio State Buckeyes.

Anyone who knew Lester knew him as a stubborn, ornery lad-always quick with a joke and even quicker to give you a hard time. He was as stubborn as they come, but underneath that gruff exterior was a heart of gold.

A proud Grandpa, Lester loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them. His family will forever remember the laughter, the stories, and the way he could light up a room with his mischievous grin.

He will be dearly missed by his three children: Tracy (Richard) Dunlavy of Cable, Angie (Eric Dingus) Isaacs of Urbana, and Lester Isaacs Jr. of Marysville; 10 grandchildren: Paige (Derrick) Overholt, Tyler (Krista) Dunlavy, Jessica Dunlavy, Christina (Kyle) Kelly, Katelyn (Doug) Roberts, Kenzie (Austin) Henry, Dylan Isaacs, Alexa (Cole Helterbrand) Isaacs, Ashlynne (Damon) Hay, and Addyson Isaacs; 10 great-grandchildren and one on the way; three siblings: Terry (Jane) Isaacs, James (Diane) Isaacs, and Marilyn "Ann" Isaacs; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Including his parents, Lester was preceded in death by nine siblings: Verna Morgan, Linda Bollack, Marla Bollack, John "Buster" Isaacs, Louzetta "Suzie" Reisinger, Richard "Ricky" Isaacs, Juanitta "Tweety" Cooper, Victoria "Vicky" Stanley and Anthony "Tony" Isaacs.

His family will greet friends from 10 am to Noon on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the Ingram & Snyder Funeral Home, 975 N. Maple St., Marysville. Services honoring his life will follow there at Noon, with Celebrant Alycia Orcena officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Union County Honor Guard will follow in Oakdale Cemetery in Marysville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Nationwide Children's Hospital (https://www.nationwidechildrens.org/give).
