Lester "Les" Wilbur Priewe

Lester, known affectionately as "Les" to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, at the age 86.

Born on April 29, 1939, to Wilbur and Esther (nee Awe) Priewe, Les grew up with a strong sense of community and family values that would guide him throughout his life.

Les was a proud United States Army veteran who served his country with honor from 1962 to 1964. After his military service, he built a successful career at American Motors, which later became Chrysler Corporation, where he was well-respected by his colleagues for his work ethic and friendly demeanor.

In his personal life, Les was a devoted husband to his late wife, Emily "Evie" Priewe, and a loving stepfather of Barbara Patrick and John (Geralyn) Schwartz. He cherished his role as a grandfather to Dawn Peuschold, David (Suzette) Patrick, Deborah Patrick, and Holly, Evie, Dennis, Tommy, and Christian Schwartz. Les also embraced the joy of being a great-grandfather to Megan Patrick, Sean (Nicole), Andrew, and Steven Patrick, and a great-great-grandfather to Benjamin Patrick. Les is survived by his siblings Ethel (the late Raymond) Richter, Ruth Priewe, and Judith (the late William) Plunkett.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Melvin (Mary) Priewe.

His family will remember him as a pillar of strength and love, a man who always had a kind word and a smile for everyone he met. An avid bowler, Les could often be found at the local lanes, where he enjoyed the camaraderie and competition. His love for bingo, horse racing, and the excitement of Potawatomi Casino were well-known among his friends in West Allis.

Les's presence at these local spots will be deeply missed, as he was a familiar and welcoming face to many. Les Priewe's life was one of service, friendship, and joy. As we say goodbye to Les, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of laughter, and lasting memories. His legacy of kindness and warmth will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. Les Priewe's passing leaves a void in the hearts of his family and friends, but his spirit will forever remain a guiding light in their lives.

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 28, at CHURCH AND CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 15250 W. National Ave., New Berlin, at 12 PM followed by the service at 2 PM.

Private interment at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove.
