Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Service - BismarckLester Clarence Wimer, age 72, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026. He lived a life grounded in family, hard work, and kindness, leaving behind countless memories—and stories—that will be cherished for generations.
Lester was a devoted husband and father who took great pride in caring for those he loved. He enjoyed gardening, farming, woodworking, tractors, and anything that allowed him to work with his hands. Most of all, he treasured time spent with his family.
Becoming a grandfather was one of Lester’s greatest joys. He loved each of his grandchildren deeply and was immensely proud of their accomplishments, whether big milestones or everyday moments. He took genuine interest in their lives and was always their biggest supporter.
Lester never met a stranger. A simple trip to the store often turned into a long conversation and a new friendship. Known for sharing his favorite stories—sometimes with slightly different endings—he had a gift for storytelling that brought laughter to everyone around him.
He also had a gentle heart and a special love for animals. Lester will be joyfully reunited in heaven with his beloved Bichon, Teddy, and his Cocker Spaniel, Shaunna.
Lester is survived by his children and grandchildren: Dustin Wimer, of Washburn, ND (Mandi Wimer), children Kinley, Bentley, and Burley; Travis Wimer, of Bismarck, ND (Brittany Schmidt), son Ryker Schmidt; Macall Jeppesen, of Clitherall, MN (Mitch Jeppesen), son Wylder Jeppesen; Dylan Wimer, of Red Wing, MN; Chad Wimer, of Garrison, ND (LeAnn Wimer), children Nashton, Dawson, Bella, and Keegan.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cindy Wimer; his parents, Clarence and Leona Wimer; and his cherished granddaughter, Jennings Jeppesen, who welcomed him home.
Lester will be deeply missed here on earth, but his family takes comfort in knowing he is reunited with his wife and granddaughter, surrounded by love, familiar smiles, and treasured memories. His stories, laughter, and gentle spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Thursday, February 19, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 North 4th Street, Bismarck, ND. Family and friends are invited to come share stories and celebrate the life of Lester.
