Leval Lindsey

Leval Lindsey, age 87, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 2, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. Leval was born on June 20, 1938, to Howard Cecil Poe and Reathel Bailey Poe.

Leval was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Reathel Poe; husband, WC Lindsey; son, Dale Lindsey; brother in-law, Junior Nelson; nephew, Derryl Stapler. Leval and WC shared a remarkable marriage of 52 years, marked by joy, resilience and an unyielding love.

Leval possessed a quick, sometimes sarcastic wit that could light up any room. Her humor was as bright as her favorite color red. She loved tending to her plants and was known for her green thumb. She took immense joy in nurturing her plans and was always eager to share them with her family and friends.

Leval is survived by her daughters, Kathie Haikey and Yvonne Lindsey; grandchildren, Teresa Troquille and Nichole Smith; great grandchildren, Anthony Crellen, Eric Crimley, Connor Crimley, Matthew Smith and Brooke Smith, great great grandchildren Harper and Eleanor Crellen; sisters; Levern Nelson, and Teri (Kevin) Reed; she also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Esplanade Gardens for their warm and compassionate care. Their kindness and dedication provided immense comfort during this difficult time.

A visitation will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Chapel Hill Funeral Home 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Rd San Antonio, Texas 78239. A private burial will be held at a later date.
