Fannie Lee Ely nee Harris left to join her husband Levis Delton Ely on April 27, 2024. Levis passed away on September 26, 2021, the couple was married for over 50 years when he left this world.
Levis was born on January 13, 1948 in Terry, TX to parents Volus and Mabel Ely. He served in the Navy for 20 years and worked in civil service before he retired. He was a member of a local cowboy action shooting group called SASS where he was known to friends as Levi Nighthawk. While serving in the Navy he met Fannie and the two married on July 17, 1971.
Fannie was born to parents Thomas and Mattie Harris on December 9, 1949 in Coahoma, MS. She worked and retired from civil service as a safety officer. She joined her husband at SASS and enjoyed baking brownies for the local first responders. While out and about she never seemed to meet a stranger and was always willing to help others if she was able to.
The couple lived in many different places over the years and finally settled in New Boston, TX in the mid 2000s. Levis was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Mattie Pyles, Nora Oleta Miles, and Wanda Ely. Fannie was preceded in death by her parents and sister Mary Harris.
They are survived by son Thomas Henry and his wife Kourteny of New Boston, TX, son Levis Matthew of New Boston, TX, and son Jason Ryan and his wife Tiffany of Oakland, TN along with grandsons Devlin, Kilian, and Lucien along with a number of nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Levis is also survived by brother Aubrey "Ray" Ely and Fannie is survived by sisters Barbara Brannon, Carrie Brannon, Judy Archer, Debbie Sheehy, and Tammy Harris and brothers Thomas and James Harris.
