Lewayne B. Chaffee Jr, 73, was born in Kansas City Missouri to Lewayne B. Chaffee, Sr. and Betty Rose Chaffee on September 3, 1951. Both parents, brother Roy Allen Chaffee, sons David Wayne Chaffee, Larry Dean Chaffee and Timothy Wayne Alee, and daughter Melissa Ann Chaffee, and niece Katy McCormick, all preceded him in death.
Lewayne married Sue Osborn in 1974. They made a home in the Independence area. When he was not working, you could find him fishing or looking for another electric train to add to his collection.
He departed this life May 22, 2025 at the North Kansas City Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Lewayne is survived by his wife Sue Chaffee, two sons, Billy Osborn and Anthony Chaffee, brother Larry Lee Chaffee, four sisters, Barbara Fox, Laura Denton, Carol Rodriguez and Lena Heiser, ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 30, 2025 at Park Lawn Funeral Home. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM.
