Lewis Head Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Judkins Colonial Home - Plainfield on Jan. 17, 2026.
Mr. Lewis Edward Head, affectionately known as "Hunk" and "Pops", age 80, passed away on

January 14, 2026, in Westfield, New Jersey. Born on April 20, 1945, in Locust Grove, Georgia,

Lewis lived a life defined by dedication to his work, service to his country, and a deep love for

building and craftsmanship.

Lewis graduated from Jackson High School in Jackson, Georgia. After graduation, he enlisted in

the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. His military service instilled in him a

strong sense of discipline, responsibility, and commitment-qualities that remained evident

throughout every chapter of his life.

Following his time in the Army, Lewis pursued his passion for barbering by attending barber

college. He became a professional barber, a trade he practiced with great pride, precision, and

care. In addition to barbering, Lewis built a long-standing career with Stop & Shop, where he

worked for over twenty years. Known for his reliability and strong work ethic, he earned the

respect of colleagues and supervisors alike.

From an early age, Lewis demonstrated a natural talent for carpentry. He began working with

wood while still in high school and continued this craft throughout his life. Whether building

furniture or completing home improvement projects, he found joy and fulfillment in creating

things with his hands.

Lewis was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathleen Head; his mother, Marie Webster;

and his sister, Annie Ruth Strickland. He was also deeply shaped by the love and influence of

his grandmother, Viola Head.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Erica Stewart and Kim Campbell (Craig); his sister,

Regina Chatman (Richard); and many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren who will forever

cherish their memories of him.

A man of quiet strength, enduring skill, and steadfast character, Lewis leaves behind a legacy

built not only from wood and tools, but from a lifetime of hard work, service, and devotion to

those he loved.

May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
