With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lewis Nelson Slider, who left this world peacefully on August 5, 2025, at the age of 81.
Born on December 17, 1943, Lewis lived a life defined by dedication, strength, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. A proud United States Marine, he embodied the Marine Corps motto "Semper Fi – Always Faithful," both in service to his country and throughout his life as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter and son-in-law, Angel and Jeff Ray; his son and fiancée, Jack Slider and Stephanie Semons; his sisters, Margie Curtis and Barbara Allen; his grandchildren, Johnny Coffey, Mandy Coffey, Shannon Coffey, Clint Estep, Taylor Smith and Malvin Torres, Chancey and Sam French, Jessica and Eathon Liles, Sydney and Benjamin Ross, and Harley Stewart; 14 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Slider Sr. and Ruth Rankin Smith; his wife, Gloria Tanner Slider; his brother, Robert Slider Jr.; his sister, Eloise Gray; his daughter, Italy Estep; his son, Lance Slider; and his grandson-in-law, Peter Cephas.
Lewis will be remembered for his faithfulness, his patriotism, and the deep love he held for his family. His legacy of strength and loyalty will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at Gallagher Funeral Home in Ball on Thursday, August 7, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. A celebration of Lewis's life will take place at 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
