Lex Thomas Baker
**May 18, 2005 – August 31, 2025**
Lex Thomas Baker, 20, of Little River, South Carolina, passed away on August 31st, 2025, in a motorcycle accident. A brilliant student, dedicated Eagle Scout, and beloved son and grandson, Lex touched the lives of everyone he met with his generous heart and willingness to help others without expecting anything in return. He was continuously seeking ways to improve himself and encouraged others to do the same.
Lex was currently pursuing his undergraduate degree in Computer Science and French at Rochester Institute of Technology, while simultaneously working toward his master's degree in Cybersecurity. He excelled in all his studies, maintaining straight A's throughout his academic career. His exceptional intellect granted him admission to the prestigious South Carolina Governor's School of Science and Math, where he matriculated for his junior and senior years and graduated with distinction.
Growing up as a military dependent and an only child, Lex experienced life in many different places, never living in one home for more than three years. This unique upbringing fostered his adaptability and resilience. During his junior high years, he excelled both academically and athletically, particularly in cross country running.
A natural leader and outdoor enthusiast, Lex earned his Eagle Scout rank at a young age, demonstrating his commitment to service and leadership. He had a passion for rock climbing and hiking, finding peace and adventure in nature's beauty.
Lex possessed a naturally mechanical mind and was endlessly curious about how things worked. He built his first computer at age 12 and would take apart various items just to understand their mechanics and put them back together again. His latest passion was working on his motorcycle, a pursuit that combined his love of mechanics with his adventurous spirit.
His academic achievements included being published by Clemson University during the summer between his junior and senior years at Governor's School. He recently completed a work experience with a start up company through RIT and under a grant received from the Sarah Ramsey Strong Fund. Lex was fiercely loyal to his friends, and his friend group from Governor's School became his tribe – bonds that meant the world to him. This group expanded to include all the wonderful friends he made at RIT.
Lex is survived by his loving parents, Kirby Baker and Lisa Baker of Little River, South Carolina; his maternal grandparents, Tom and Jackie Majewski; his maternal grandmother, Sophie Kruk; and his paternal grandmother, Mary Ann Baker. His passing has left an enormous void in the lives of his parents, extended family, and friends whose lives have been forever changed by his presence in our lives.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 5th, 2025, at the Interfaith Chapel of Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. 3325 Winton Road South
Rochester, NY 14623.

Lex's memory will live on in the countless lives he touched through his kindness, his brilliant mind, and his generous spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of academic excellence and a heart that was always open to helping others. He will be forever imprinted in the hearts of all he left behind.
