Robert Aloysius O'Gorman, age 93, passed peacefully on August 30, 2025. Known to many as Bob, Mr. O, Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, Uncle Bob, Grandpa Bob and affectionately Barnacle Bob.
Bob was predeceased by Noreen, his wife of 58 years, his parents Mary and Dan, his Brothers Dan (Winnie), Jim (Nell), Tom (Ann), John, and Sweet Sister Marie (Charlie). His Brother-in-Law Joe Mc Shea. Truly the Last Man Standing!
Bob was a father of seven Pat O'Gorman (Peggy), Joe O'Gorman, Eileen Shelby (Rik), Jim O'Gorman (Lisa), Robert O'Gorman (Margaret), Mary Kay Masters (Jeff) and Michele Washburn. Grandchildren: Suzanne (Aaron), Allison, Pat (Megi), Jackie (Darrick), Rachael, Courtney, Clint (Jen), Kyle (Lucia), Dan and Jack. Great Grandchildren: Conner, Kayleigh, Brady and Finley. Along with an infinitesimal number of nieces and nephews and his Sister-in-Law Pat Mc Shea.
Born in Hazelton, Pennsylvania. After serving in the Navy in the Korean War, he followed his brothers for employment in the Eastman Kodak company in Rochester New York. He was a trick worker and ended his 39-year career as a Shift Foreman. Retiring at age 60, (commenting that retirement was the "Best thing ever invented!"). He was extremely proud of the work he did. He was known as the "BIG O", tough but fair!. In addition to taking night classes at RIT (and studying in the only place he could find solitude the bathroom).
The most important thing was providing for his family. Worked a second job at Western Auto to ensure that his children, that he affectionately referred to as his Magnificent 7, had food on the table, appropriate clothing, a roof over your head and most importantly a valuable education.
While working trick work he made every effort to attend all his children's sporting and school events. Upon retirement he was able to attend all his grandchildren's school events.
Bob was a big believer in giving back to the community, especially the church. Served on the Parish Council was a volunteer basketball coach for the CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) and Girls Scout of America. Delivered bread for Saint Peters Kitchen, sponsored many church families as well as local charities.
He belonged to The Knights of Columbous, The American Legion and the Royal order of the Moose.
We cannot express enough gratitude to all of the medical professionals on the staff of U of R, MCH (Nurse Jackie), and RGH home health care. We would especially like to acknowledge the outstanding quality of care that he received during his final stay at Highland Hospital.
