Paul Edward Hoak passed away peacefully at home on August 27th, 2025, at the age of 90, surrounded by his loving family.
He is remembered by his devoted wife of 68 years, Delphine; his children Peter (Allison), Elizabeth, David (Wendi), Donna (Tom), Paula and Lynn; his grandchildren, Keely (Max), Alex, Samuel, Brandon, Ryan, Xander, Anna; his great-granddaughter Robbie Del, and special friend, David Kunsch.
Paul, son of Gus & Marie Hoak, was the oldest of five brothers born and raised in Buffalo, NY. As a senior in high school, he joined the U.S. Naval Air Reserve, then served on active-duty from 1957 – 1961, retiring after 21 years in the Reserves.
After his military service, he and his young family settled in Henrietta, NY where Paul embarked on a career in the retail grocery business, first as a Manager with ACME Markets, Inc. and then as Owner/Operator of the Chili Big-M, until 1996. He was recognized by the Chili community for his exceptional service to his elderly customers and support of many youth sports teams throughout the years. Because of his steadfast work ethic, he continued to work part-time until the age of 80.
As a young father, Paul was a Scout Master for his sons Boy Scout troops. In later years, he volunteered as an usher at St. Marianne Cope Parish, delivered food donations through his church to the Rush Henrietta Area Food Terminal (RHAFT), and served on the Rush-Henrietta School Budget Advisory Council. Service and commitment to his community was very important to him.
Paul cherished his family, community, and his faith. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family and blessed them with his unconditional love and support. Above all else, he was honest, kind, principled, good-natured, and loved life. He was a man of great hospitality.
A Christian mass will be celebrated at St. Marianne Cope Parish at 10:00 AM on October 9th, 2025.
