Shirley M. Hoak, age 93, of Liberty Borough, died June 10, 2025, at Overlook Green Senior Living. Born April 22, 1932, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of John and Margaret (Jamnicky) Schultz and wife of the late Clifford V. Hoak.
For 19 years, Shirley served as the Tax Collector for Liberty Borough, earning the respect and admiration of those she worked with and the residents she diligently served as well as working at Fisher Body. Her commitment to her role was matched only by her devotion to her faith and family. As a proud member of Saints Joachim and Anne Parish, she actively engaged in parish life as a Christian Mother, Lady of Charity, and Eucharistic Minister, exemplifying her unwavering commitment to her spiritual community. In her leisure time, Shirley found joy in gardening, playing cards, needlepoint, and crochet, often sharing her lovingly crafted creations with friends and family. She loved to spend time with her family and especially enjoyed traveling with her late husband Clifford.
She is survived by children, Beverly (Philip) Cover, Clifford J. (Jonalyn) Hoak, Linda (Carl) Surgeon, and Chris Hoak; grandchildren, Jennifer (Daniel) Kress, Caitlin (Jason) Markham, and Frazier Hoak; great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Madeline, Riley, and Mason.
Arrangements were entrusted to Willig Funeral Home & Crematory; there will be no visitation. Family and friends are invited to gather for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Friday, June 20, 2025, 10 a.m., at Saints Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Eugene Church of Liberty Borough.
