A man of quiet strength, steady hands, and a heart always pointed outward.
We are deeply saddened to share the loss of Michael Arnold Lehmann of
Rochester, NY, formerly of Chelsea, MI, who passed away unexpectedly on August 11, 2025. Mike leaves behind a legacy built not of grand gestures, but of countless small ones - each carried out with care, precision, and an unwavering sense of duty.
Born in Ann Arbor and raised in Chelsea, Mike was a standout athlete at Chelsea High School, where he captained the football team and excelled as a hurdler on the track. He later earned a degree in Education from Western Michigan University and taught printing at several local high schools - a profession that required both technical skill and the kind of patience that doesn't come with a manual.
Mike pursued a master's degree in Printing at Rochester Institute of Technology, which led to a career start with Corning, owning Upstate Litho, and a lifetime of consulting. He spent his professional life in the printing industry, where he was known not just for his expertise, but for his integrity, reliability and unmatched attention to detail - qualities that never needed advertising.
Though not formally trained as an engineer or mechanic, Mike had an uncanny ability to fix anything. Cars, appliances, homes - if it was broken, he could make it whole again. He approached problems with quiet confidence and a toolbox that seemed to defy the laws of physics in its ability to produce exactly what was needed.
He was a man for others. If you needed help, Mike showed up. No fanfare, no fuss - just a steady hand, a thoughtful solution, and usually a better outcome than you expected.
Mike was also an avid outdoorsman, spending time fishing and hunting with friends and family. He found peace in nature and joy in sharing it.
He was a gifted cook, everyone who knew him was amazed by his culinary gifts, his curiosity about new foods, and his willingness to experiment with techniques most people only read about but never try.
Mike cooked to express love. Feeding people wasn't just a hobby - it was his way of showing up, of caring, of saying, "You matter." Whether it was a holiday feast or a Tuesday night dinner, he made sure you were well-fed, and probably left wondering how he made that sauce taste like a hug. To be fed by Mike was his way holding you close.
Above all, Mike lived by a quiet code: loyalty, work ethic, integrity, and care for others. He didn't talk about these values - he embodied them. He leaves behind a legacy of competence, kindness, and the kind of presence that made people feel safe, seen, and supported.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him - not just for what he did, but for who he was.
Mike is survived by his sister Cheryl (Joe); his children Adam (Lindsay), Taylor (Caron), Zachary (Nicole); his grandchildren Clayton, Rowan, Ava, Welles, Gavin, Henry, George; and his mini-schnauzer Isadora. He was preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Doris Lehmann.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Mike's memory by helping someone in need. Fix something. Cook something. Show up. That's what he would have done.
