Lex Marion Hyden

 

 

Lex Marion Hyden was born December 19, 1949, in Logan, Utah. He was the 2nd son to Cecil J and Jacqueline Allen Hyden. Lex passed away on January 9th 2025, at the Rocky Mountain Nursing Home where he shared a room with his wife, Beverly, for the past year.

 

Lex grew up in Logan and helped his family build their home in Providence, Utah. 

Lex attended elementary schools in Logan and Providence. He attended Junior High at South Cache Jr High and graduated high school in the 2nd graduating class at Sky View High. It was while attending high school that Lex developed a love of Physics and Math. 

 

While at a friend’s house, Lex saw a beautiful girl doing dishes and knew from that moment she was the one. Lex married Beverly Kaye Hitchcock on November 7, 1969, in the Logan LDS Temple. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage and were blessed with three children. 

 

Lex became an Electrical Engineer and worked as an underground electrician in the coal mines. He went on to work in the Electrical Engineering Department at Geneva Steel and ended his career in maintenance. 

 

Lex and Beverly had an “open door policy” at their home and felt blessed to gain extra sons: Jeffrey Allen Titara (JT), Larry Trout, and David L. Sykes. They also lovingly helped raise several grandchildren.

 

Lex was a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served as a Home Ministering Brother, Cub Scout leader, and in the Elders Quorum Presidency. 

 

Lex’s favorite interests were spending time with his family, camping, and playing games of Chess, Monopoly, Pinochle and Hand & Foot. He also attended Mountain Man Rendezvous and especially loved the muzzleloading events. 

 

Lex was proceeded in death by parents Cecil J and Jacqueline Allen Hyden; brothers Sidney “L”, Ross “A”, and Kyle “R”; son Jeffry Allen Hyden; son-in-law Lewis Ray Larson; adopted son Jeffrey Allen Titara; grandsons Brandon Allen Hyden and Markus Jeffry Padilla.

 

Lex is survived by his loving wife Beverly; daughters Kimberly and Amber; brother Seth (Terry) Hyden, sister Maren (Randall) Harris; sister-in-law Marilyn Hyden and Shauna Hyden; 10 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

 

The family would like to thank the staff at the Logan Dialysis Center for such good care of Lex the past 7 years, we would also like to thank the Rocky Mountain Nursing Home for Lex’s care this past year and for the wonderful Hospice Chaplain who comforted him during his final days. 

 

Services will be held at a later date when his sweetheart Beverly joins him in Eternity.

Both will be buried together at the Smithfield Cemetery.
