Mr. Lexie Glyn Dean, 69, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 5th, 2025.
The funeral service will take place on Monday at 2pm in the chapel of Wilkerson funeral Home in Greenville. The Burial will be private. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
Lexie was born in Hammond, Indiana and spent most of his young life in East Texas. A graduate of Alto High School, his greatest accomplishment was meeting Katy and marrying her on July 5th, 1975. During his time at SMU, he studied mechanical engineering. Lexie and Katy ended up moving to several different states where he worked as an engineer.
He was very active in the Boy Scouts of America. He and Katy had a Chuck Wagon team and traveled in cooking competitions throughout the south east. Their Chuck wagon, the "Ramblin' Rose," won several awards, having claimed the title of Grand Champion 9 times!
They moved to Greenville NC in 2000 where he began working for Hyster Yale as a Test Engineer. He would tell people, "I've got the best job in the world!" They joined Unity FWB Church where he loved being a member and spending time with his church family. Lexie became known for his cookies that he would bake for Sunday morning. He was actively involved with bible study and the men's fellowship group while also participating on the cooking crew and grief share program.
Lexie was a kind, generous, and loving provider who loved being a Paw Paw. He had a great sense of humor and loved a good joke.
Lexie was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Katy Bice Dean; His mother Mary Bell Holst; father Rubbert Lee Dean; and his step-father William Albert "Pete" Helm.
He is survived by his children: Andy Glyn Dean and wife Rachel of Houston, TX; Amy Dean Britton and wife Kelly of Glen Allen, VA; and James William Dean of Greenville; Grandchildren Koda Dean, Koen Dean, Logan Dean, Autumn Dean, Dean Britton, and Katy Britton; his girlfriend Amy Campbell; brothers and sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
