Mr. Higson was a native of Pitt County, a graduate of Belvoir High School, and a Navy veteran.
He was a longtime resident of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where he retired as a maintenance manager at Spring Towers Resort Condominiums.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Higson is preceded in death by his siblings, James Earl Higson, Steven Van Higson, and Linda Faye Adams; and his long-time girlfriend, Shirley G. Hurwitz.
He is survived by his twin daughters, the true loves of his life, Capt. Casey McKoy Higson and Capt. Michelle Lane Higson, both U.S. Army retired; former spouse, Ruth Perry Higson (Chip) who cared for him in recent years; and brother Donnie Wayne Higson and wife, Elizabeth.
The family would like to thank ECU Health, their physicians and staff, for their care and support during his stay in the hospital.
