Lafayette Denton Obituary
The funeral service will be held Monday at 2 PM at the New Life Church in Wake Forest. Burial will follow in the Williams Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 1 PM until the funeral hour.
Lafayette grew up in Zebulon and attended Zebulon High School and completed his GED at Wake Tech. He worked as an electrician for many years at Watson Electrical, Finch Electrical, Measurements Group and Siemens. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Rolesville and later The Church of God in Royal. In recent years, he has been a member of The Church of God in Greenville. Lafayette enjoyed watching car racing and football and working on word searches. He loved animals and spending time outside, gardening and going to chicken and goat sales. He made a great country breakfast and most importantly, he loved his family dearly and delighted in spending time with them.
Lafayette was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Mary Denton; sister, Colene Knott; and brothers, Douglas, James, and Larry Denton.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lois Williams Denton; daughter, Tonya Denton Lamm and husband, Mark; grandsons, Zachery Lamm, Austin Lamm, Connor Lamm, and Holden Lamm; sisters, Violet Allen and Betty Pearson; sister-in-law, Joan Denton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Church of God, c/o Tonya Lamm, 1872 NC Hwy 33 E, Tarboro, NC 27886.
