Phyllis Denton Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 27, 2026.
Phyllis Ann Denton passed away peacefully the evening of February 22 at Knopp Healthcare & Rehab with her Son and Daughter by her side.

Phyllis was married to the love of her life, best friend, and business partner, Kenneth Allen Denton for 54 years. They were the perfect team in life, and entrepreneurial endeavors.

Ken was a tall, good-looking kid who proposed to Phyllis on campus at Baylor University. Her Father would give this his blessing "as long she finished her degree!" Phyllis would do exactly that, graduating from Baylor in 1964 where many lifelong friendships were forged.

She was a 7th grade history teacher, and loved her work guiding young people as a counselor at McLennan Community College in Waco.

She adored a good book; a passion inherited by her two children, Mark and Jill. Many Fall days were spent reading while Ken was bow hunting at the deer lease.

She stood by her children through every challenge, encouraged every ambition, and loved unconditionally.

She was so proud of her two granddaughters, Skylar and Ava.

She believed every home needed a dog, and every dog deserved a home. Her Jack Russell, Tracker, and friend Joaquin visited her most days at Knopp's.

Phyllis is survived by son Mark Randall Denton and wife Johnnie, daughter Jill Michelle Perry and husband Chase, and granddaughters Skylar Denton and Ava Perry.

Phyllis was preceded in death by husband Kenneth Allen in May of 2013.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful people at Knopp Retirement Center, Knopp's #1, and Votive Hospice. You are so special, and truly do God's work. Blessings to all of you and your families as you cared so dearly for ours.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Pioneer Memorial Library in Fredericksburg, or the Texas Children's Hospital.

Phyllis' ashes will join Ken's on a pretty creek where he used to hunt in a private family ceremony

Now, remember, tomorrow is a brand-new day!
