Wanda Denton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by David W. Barnes Funeral Home on Mar. 2, 2026.
Wanda Louise Denton, age 66, of Caney, Kansas passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, February 27, 2026.

Wanda was born on July 25, 1959, in Mayfield, Kentucky to H.C. and Armra (Brooks) Lee. She grew up in Mayfield where she attended local schools. Shortly after high school she met the love of her life, Jack Denton. The two quickly fell in love and were united in marriage on December 2, 1978. This was just the beginning of what turned into 47+ years together of friendship, love and family that they built together throughout the years. Of this union, four children were born, J.C., Justin, Jeff and Elizabeth.

Jack's career had him working on the road and away from home for weeks at a time, so it was Wanda who took care of the day-to-day house chores and running the kids around to school activities. She was an amazing wife and mother to her family. When the kids got older, she decided to fill her time by working at the Guest Home Estates. She started as a dietary aide and found she enjoyed helping others, so she became a certified nurse aide then later a certified med aide. Wanda was a generous and caring person; she touched the lives of everyone she knew. Wanda was a member of the Cornerstone Christian Church. She loved being a grandma and great grandma to her many grandkids and enjoyed taking care of her chickens.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Jack Denton of the home; children, Jackie C. (Sophie) Denton, Justin (Holly) Denton, Jeff (Kyla) Denton, Elizabeth (Tyler) Turner; seventeen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brothers, Danny and Walter; sisters, Patty, Brenda, Weda, Beverly and Vanda along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, H.C. and Armra Lee; brothers, Charlie and Larry, and sisters, Betty and Debbie.

Following Wanda's wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas. No public services are scheduled. A private family gathering has taken place in her honor.
