Richard Junge Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by David W. Barnes Funeral Home on Feb. 24, 2026.
Richard Charles Junge, 74, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2026, at his home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He was born in Coffeyville, Kansas on October 1, 1951, to Robert Charles and Betty Elaine (Waddell) Junge. Richard spent his childhood in Coffeyville where he attended Edgewood Elementary School, Roosevelt Junior High, and Field Kindley High School. Following high school, he attended and graduated for Kansas State University where he received both a bachelor's and master's degree.

Richard's professional life was marked by his significant contribution to the food industry as a food scientist for the H-E-B Grocery Stores based in San Antonio, Texas. In recent years, he resided in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was well known in his community and a dedicated member of the American Association of Cereal Chemists and American Baking Association.

Richard will be fondly remembered for his love of cycling, participating in marathons, golfing, fishing, and traveling. He had a special knack for spoiling his grandchildren, which brought him immense joy. He was a man of many interests, all of which were secondary to his love for his family.

He is survived by his wife, Julia (Pauzauskie) Junge, his two daughters Candice (Donald) Bruce and children Cameron and Kyla; and Miranda (Andy) Gelven and children Landon and Ben; his three step-sons John (Shelly) Cunningham and child Vincent; Will (Sydney) Cunningham and child Paycen; and Ben (Morgan) Cunningham, his brother Jim (Carla) Junge, and his sister Bobbi (Don) Shelton. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Betty Junge.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Richard's life will take place at a later date. Following Richard's wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.

We invite all those who knew and loved Richard to share their memories, stories, and photos on his memorial page at www.dwbfh.com.
