Eucebius Reese Ment Carey

April 22, 1954 - August 21, 2025

with her family by her side on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at home."

Eucebius Reese Ment Carey was born April 22, 1954 to the union of Albert Reese, Sr. and Alice Osiedean Carter Reese on April 22,1954 in Mobile, AL. She was the sixth of eleven children.

Eucebius attended C.F. Vigor High School in Prichard AL and was a member of the graduating Class of 1972. While in high school she became a trained classical piano player. She also loved fishing with family and friends. Eucebius was the secretary at her family's business Reese Funeral Home from 1974-1994. She worked as a Daycare worker at Funtime Daycare and was a Substitute Teacher. She eventually opened her own business Volante' Specialty in Prichard, AL. She was a licensed Funeral Director for Small's Mortuary until her health started to fail.

On September 8, 1976 Eucebius married the love of her life, William Charles Carey in Mobile, AL. They were married for forty-nine years and had four daughters: Ashley, Valarie, Khristina, and Elizabeth.

In 1997 she became the First Lady of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. During her role as First Lady she was the Youth Coordinator and responsible for the Junior Usher Board.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Reese, Sr. and Alice Osiedean Reese; six siblings: Harvey Reese, Sr., Osie Reese, Donald Reese, Edward Reese, Sr., Gladis Reese and Kenneth Reese.

Eucebius leaves to cherish her legacy and fond memories, her husband of forty-nine years, William; four daughters: Ashley (Tommy) Prichard of Calera, AL, Valarie (Charles) Jones of Birmingham, AL, Khristina (Benjamin) Rocker of Charleston, SC, and Elizabeth Carey of Mobile, AL; six grandchildren: Teagan, Hezekiah, Tatum, Amilya, Hannah and Emily; two sisters: Carolyn (Deacon Eddie) Harris of Prichard, AL, Mary Grant of Oakland, CA, three brothers: Rev. Albert (Annell) Reese of Saraland, AL, Shedrone (Oretha) Reese of Mobile, AL and Eric Reese of Prichard, AL; five sisters-in-law: Grace Brown of Mobile, AL, Barbara Carey of Los Angeles, CA, Paulette Reese of Bay Minette, AL, Jennie Reese of Chunchula, AL and Sylvia Reese of Atlanta, GA; five brothers-in-law: David Carey of Los Angeles, CA, Leroy Carey of Mobile, AL, Larry Carey of Los Angeles, CA, Don Louis Carey of Los Angeles, CA, and Ronnie Carey of Los Angeles, CA; one goddaughter, Keira Crook (Casey) Robinson of Mobile, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
