Lida P. Staggs

1927 - 2026

Lida Petersen Staggs, age 98, of Rigby, Idaho passed away on January 1, 2026 from causes incident to age. Lida was born on May 29, 1927 in Salem, Idaho to Charles Earial Petersen and Mary McMinn Petersen. Lida worked hard in many different jobs over the years. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and doing crafts. In her later years, she loved to make and give away hot pads. After she retired, she gave service in the community, working with the VFW Auxiliary, and with the Rigby Senior Center. She also spent more than 16 years as a foster grandparent in the elementary school helping first and second graders learn to read. She received a Community Service Award from the Rigby Chamber of Commerce in 2009 recognizing her many years of service. Lida was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Lee E. Staggs and her son, Kevin Staggs. She is survived by her daughters, Melody Seal, Nikki Staggs, and Shauna (Donnie) Bragg; by her sister Sharon Darnell and her brother Kent Petersen; and by seven grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Eckersell's Funeral Home in Rigby, following a viewing at 9:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
