Lidia Maria Polanco, a beacon of laughter, creativity, and unwavering dedication, was born on March 27, 1951, in the vibrant town of Moca, Dominican Republic. She was a woman of enchanting spirit and an unyielding love for her family. Lidia, whose life journey ended on September 18, 2025, was the epitome of a life well-lived, echoing the words of Maya Angelou, "My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style."

Lidia, a long-time resident of Boston, Massachusetts, was known for her infectious humor and her unique ability to find joy in the simplest of things. She was a dedicated server in a bustling Boston restaurant and was loved by her patrons for her exceptional service and warm, welcoming smile. She found solace in immersing herself in the world of movies, a hobby that allowed her to escape into captivating stories and diverse characters. Lidia had lived in Puerto Rico before making Boston her home, and she carried with her the vibrancy and zest of both cultures.

She was the loving mother to her daughters, Belgica and Eduvigis Polanco, and a cherished family member to Yanil Lopez. Lidia's love for her family was her guiding light, her true north. She was a woman who understood that the essence of life was not just about existing, but about creating bonds, love, and memories. Lidia was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro Gomez and Juana Polanco. As the poet Rumi so beautifully said, "Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes. Because for those who love with heart and soul there is no such thing as separation."

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 11:00 am at McHoul Family Funeral Home, 354 Adams Street, Dorchester, Massachusetts, 02122. This will be followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm at the same venue. Her burial will take place at 1:45 pm at Cedar Grove Cemetery, 920 Adams Street, Boston, Massachusetts, 02124.

Lidia Polanco's life was a testament to the power of love, the joy of laughter, and the magic of creativity. Her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to have known her. We encourage all who knew Lidia to share their memories and upload photos to her memorial page. Her story is not just one of life and death, but a celebration of a soul that touched many hearts.
