Lila Lee Walbye, 95, passed away 04/21/2025 at the Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie, Wyoming. Lila was born on 1/8/1930 in Scribner, Nebraska to Ira and Linda Shultz. She graduated from Rawlins High School in 1947. She married Ray Walbye in 1948 at which time they moved to Billings, Montana where their daughter Ralene was born in 1949. After 3 years they returned to Rawlins and their son Randy was born in 1953. She was credit manager and acting store manager at the Sears Catalog store for 4 1/2 years. In January 1960 she went to work for the Carbon County ASCS Office following that with 1 1/2 years at the BLM. In December 1975 she transferred to the Forest Service in Encampment and retired in January 1990. Upon retiring she took up crocheting and quilting. She was part of the quilt group at the Sagebrush Senior Center. Her family all have several quilts and several years ago she sent her 20 nieces and nephews each a quilt. On one day a week she delivered meals for the Senior Center to those unable to come to the Center for lunch and also picked up and returned them home for those who needed a ride. She also served as treasurer at the Center for many years and was the Encampment representative on the board for Carbon County Senior Services for more than 6 years, a life member of the VFW Auxiliary, a member of the church choir and the community choir. She attended many volleyball games and track meets in which her granddaughter Cassie played. They also took many spring break trips having a really good time together. When the great grandchildren came along it was fun all over again. They planted tomatoes, made cookies and noodles, and played Frisbee. When Cassie and her family moved to Cody, Lila was able to go there several times a year where they again planted tomatoes and she watched football games the great grandkids played in. Lila was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ray, a baby sister Janet, two older brothers Dick and Jim and two younger brothers Wally and Kenny. She is survived by her daughter Ralene Crum of Saratoga, son Randy (Lisa) of Guffey, Colorado, granddaughter Cassie (Darin) Brost of Cody, Wyoming, great grandson Trenten Hubbs of Laramie, Wyoming and great granddaughter Ashten Hubbs of Cody, Wyoming, and many nieces and nephews.
