Lilah Mae Blackwood

Lilah Mae Blackwood, 89, passed away at home, surrounded by her family on November 26, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pat Nichols and Ola Reno Nichols, daughter, Renee Blackwood, sister, Melba Shelton, long-time companion, Allen Black, and her beloved dog, Chief.
Survivors include her daughter, Belita Bright Hyche (Jim Marion); son, Milan Wayne Bright (Katie Bright); sister, Carol Garrett; grandchildren, Grant Ellis Hyche (Michelle Hyche), Lacey Gray Schoff (Hans Schoff), Shane Bright (Leydy Bright), Dalton Bright, Amber McAdory (Thomas McAdory), Kyndrell Reynolds, and bonus grandson, Tom Marion (Rachel Marion); and great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Mason Hyche, Ellis, Ryker and Adler Schoff, Audrey McAdory, and Gray and Aris Bright.
To know Lilah Mae was to love her. She had a multitude of friends and was loved by all her family. She touched many lives while teaching English at Banks High School in Birmingham. In her spare time, she loved to go fishing, work puzzles and was a voracious reader. She loved plants and had quite the green thumb. Her favorite thing was spending time with her family and friends.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her!
