Lillian Bernstein Obituary

Published by Bliley's Funeral Home Central Chapel from Apr. 8 to Apr. 9, 2012.
BERNSTEIN, Lillian S., was an angel on earth and now will be with her beloved husband, Fred, as

an angel in heaven. Lil was an adored and selfless wife, mother, grandmother,

great-grandmother and aunt, and was also beloved by many other family members and friends. She was considered a "second mother" by many and never knew a stranger. Lil left us on April 6, 2012. Her memory will be a blessing and source of inspiration to her children, Betty Kane, Andy Bernstein, Joyce Ezrine and her husband, Charles, and Pat Shapiro and her husband, Bob. She cherished her grandchildren, Melissa Kane, Lauren and Eric Lieberman, Jill Long, Stephanie and Tom Kushner, Greg and Meg Friedman, and Rick and Annette Friedman. Her legacy will be an everlasting part of her great-grandchildren, Emilie, Katie, Daniel, Ashley, Riley, Ellie, Alix, Amelia, Sarah, Josh, Josey and Will. They were her beloved treasures. She now joins one of the deepest loves of her life, her doggie, Benji, who passed last week. Lil was the last survivor of the 11 children of Annie Kessler Sturman and Isadore Sturman. Lil lived life to the fullest, loved family gatherings, the sun and beach, her friends, and all things chocolate. A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Bliley's - Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave. Richmond Va. 23230. Interment to follow at Richmond Beth El Cemetery at Forest Lawn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society or Make a Wish Foundation. Online condolences may be made at www.blileys.com.

Aunt Lil was so important in my life. She was just one-of-a-kind, and I think that she was one of the kindest and most understanding people that I ever met.She was so real, and that is not always an easy quality to find. You could tell her anything, and she would just listen. She had a gift for making people feel so important, and good about themselves!
Aunt Lil was a grandmother to me and I will miss her with all my heart. I love you Aunt Lil, and love and condolences to the family. My heart is with you.

My life will not be the same without her. Yes, Lil was a second mother and friend to me. Her spirit used to help me carry on. Lil had a great sense of humor. I really appreciated the fact that she would be totally honest with me. Even though she was an aunt to me, she was so much more.

My heart goes out to all of her family and friends. She will be missed so much.

I love you and will miss you.
