Lillian E. Demopoulos of Wells, ME passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024, at St. André's
Health Care Facility in Biddeford, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 7,
1936, in Boston, MA, and was the oldest of three children.
A devoted member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Saco, Lillian took pride in being
part of the Ladies of St. Fotini. She eagerly looked forward to preparing delicious Greek baked
goods for the annual Greek festival.
In her early years, Lillian was employed by the Wells School Department, where she held
various positions. After working at the school during the day, she returned home to run her
seamstress business, "Dressmaking Alterations by Lillian," often working late into the night. She
also took classes in upholstery and woodturning to further enhance her skills.
At a young age, her grandmother Fanny taught her the art of sewing. Later, as a grandmother
herself, she shared that same love of sewing with her daughter & grandchildren, passing on her
skills and passion to the next generation.
Lillian had a genuine passion for cooking, which developed in childhood while preparing meals
alongside her mother Rita. She also amassed an extensive collection of cookbooks.
An avid thrifter and yard sale enthusiast, Lillian was always on the hunt for a great bargain. Her
keen eye for hidden treasures made every shopping trip an adventure. She had a remarkable
collection of buttons, and whenever she stumbled upon them at a sale, she eagerly purchased
every last one.
A resilient long-term breast cancer survivor, she exemplified strength and hope throughout her
journey.
Lillian is predeceased by her parents, Rita Frangos Vasco & Frank Vasco, her sister Jo-Anne
Vasco, and her brother William Vasco.
She is survived by her son, John Demopoulos, and his wife, Bethany of Wells, ME; her daughter,
Kristina Dussault, and her husband, Keith of Biddeford, ME; and four grandchildren: John Demopoulos,
Matt Demopoulos of Wells, ME, Kayla Dussault-Swanson and her wife, Katrina of Hollis
Center, ME, and Noah Dussault and his wife, Alexis of Biddeford, ME. They will remember her
not only for her dedication to teaching but also for her warmth, laughter, and wisdom. Lillian
will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In honor of Lillian's wishes, there will be no formal services. A celebration of her life will be
held at a later date.
