Chris G. Demopoulos passed away peacefully at 86 years old on August 18, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on January 3, 1938 to Christina and George Demopoulos in Vlaherna, Greece and immigrated to the USA when he was 12 years old.
Chris served in the US Army as a Systems Analyst and Programmer (SP5 E-5) in the Plans and Program Division.
After the military, Chris met his beloved wife, Rosa, in New York City.
They married in Virginia and eventually moved to California where he continued work in the field of information technology at Texaco and Denny's.
Ten years later, Chris and Rosa became entrepreneurs and opened a chain of needlecraft and yarn stores in California and Nevada.
He was a champion chess player, enjoyed story telling, life-long philatelist, reading and writing poetry and short stories, including publishing several books on Haiku poetry.
Chris was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and yet survived 17 extraordinary years which inspired his renewed passion for reading, writing, travel and allow all of his grandchildren the gift of making everlasting memories with him.
Chris is survived by his wife Rosa, and their adult children Eric Demopoulos, Frederick "Fritz" Demopoulos, and Irene Demopoulos-Texeira, his grandchildren Ethan Demopoulos, Hailey Texeira, Emily Demopoulos, Emma Demopoulos, Brendan Texeira, and Ellie Demopoulos, and his sister Panagiota "Pat" Kountanis, and extended family.
Services for Chris will be held at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, CA 92518 on Monday, September 9th at 11:15AM with a luncheon following.
