Obituary published on Legacy.com by Memorial Park Funeral Home North Riverside Chapel on Feb. 20, 2026.
Cindy Jo Murff, 77, of Gainesville, Ga passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at her home after a long battle with cancer on February 19, 2026.

She was born on December 8, 1948 in Iowa City, IA to James E Lawrence and Jeri Lawrence. She graduated from Fullerton Union High School in Fullerton, CA. She was the voice at the switchboard of The Mortgage Source in Gainesville for many years. Later she worked several years at Mary Watkins Chiropractic office. However, she was mainly known for her catered hors d'oeuvres for art openings at the Quinlan Visual arts Center in Gainesville for over 20 years.

Cindy had many talents that include art and painting, calligraphy, decorating, cooking, and antiques. Through the years she has given homes and love to many pets such as cats, dogs, horses, goats, chickens and more. To her neighborhood and many of the children that she met, she was known as "grandma" and she was almost always bare footed.

Survivors include husband Stephen (Steve) Murff, stepson Michael Murff, son Matthew (Matt) Lorton, daughter-in-law Christie Lorton, grandson William (Will) Lorton, grandson Samuel (Sam) Lorton, daughter Blaike Lorton, son-in-law Al Wagener, and grandchildren Avery, Hank, Gus and Emmie.

The family will be receiving friends and guests for sharing fond memories at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 from 5 to 7 pm.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made to the Hall Co. Humane Society.
