Jimmie Nell Thompson Murff, 92, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024, at her home in Amory. Born on February 27, 1932, she was a daughter to Kelso and Gertrude Pickle Thompson. Graduating from Hamilton High School in 1950, she worked in the garment industry, the Hamilton school cafeteria, and prior to her retirement she worked as a secretary to the Monroe County Veterans’ Service Office. She was the widow of Lee “Son” Murff, Jr, who preceded her in death on October 4, 2024. Mrs. Murff enjoyed bowling with her husband, camping, and traveling to the mountains. She was a member of the Hamilton Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen with Bro. Steve Reynolds and Britt Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the Ross Cemetery in Hamilton.
Mrs. Murff is survived by her children, Jerry Pittman (Susie), Hamilton, Linda Murff, Hamilton and Carol Reynolds (Steve), Amory; grandchildren, Tracy Pittman (Wendy), Hamilton, Cody Pittman (Brianna), Hamilton, Bridget Smith, Hamilton, Jaimy Murff, Florence, AL, Britt Reynolds (Brooke), Starkville, Cary Reynolds, Nashville and Leigh Kathryn Reynolds, Amory; 8 great grandchildren; nephew, Clayton Thompson; and a special friend, Grace Scott.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Talmadge Thompson; and her husband, Lee Murff, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Tracy Pittman, Cody Pittman, Britt Reynolds, Jaimy Murff, Cary Reynolds, and Danny Holloway. Honorary pallbearers will be Cameron Smitson, staff and nurses of Legacy Hospice, and special caregivers, Kim Jarrett, Taylor Burdine, and Teresa Burdine.
Visitation will be on Monday from noon until the service hour at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Meadowood Baptist Church Children’s Ministry.
