BROOKSVILLE — Lillian Beatrice "Bea" Elrod, a lifelong resident of Bracken County, passed away peacefully in Okeana, Ohio, on Nov. 5, 2025, at the age of 104.
Bea was born on Feb. 22, 1921, to Charles DeWitt England and Rowena Benson England (née Fogle). She was the third of four siblings, with two brothers, James (Jimmy) and Woodford (Woody), and a sister, Mildred. Bea graduated from Brooksville High School in 1940.
On Feb. 9, 1942, she married Paul Estill Elrod, a widower, and became a loving stepmother to his son, Charles Wilbur Elrod. Paul was the son of Charles Howard Elrod and Emma Elrod (née Johnson). Shortly thereafter, Paul was called into military service during World War II.
While he was away serving with the U.S. Army on Tinian Island in the Pacific, Bea gave birth to their first child, Darryl Glen Elrod, on Nov. 10, 1943. After Paul returned home, they welcomed two daughters, Linda Paulette Wagoner in 1948 and Judith Ann Carnes in 1950.
The family made their home on a farm in Berlin, where Bea and Paul raised their children and built a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work. Her beloved husband, Paul, passed away in 1984 and is buried at Neave United Methodist Church Cemetery in Bracken County.
Bea was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings; her stepson, Charles; her son, Darryl, and granddaughter, Leslie.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Tommy) of Owensboro, Ky., and Judith of Okeana, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great grandchild who live all over the world.
When not spending time with her family or tending the farm, Bea was an active member of the Eastern Star for over 60 years and Forest Hills Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her deep love of family, her strength of spirit, and her kindness that touched all who knew her.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, at Moore and Parker Funeral Home in Brooksville, followed by burial at Neave Cemetery.
