Faye Guffey Obituary
Faye Guffey, 94, of Murphy, N.C., passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
Mrs. Guffey was born on Sept. 23, 1930, in Murphy, N.C., to the late James Charlie and Onia Moore Carringer. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Walley Arrowood; brothers, Dallas Carringer, Broadas Carringer, Jerry Carringer, Pat Carringer and Ralph Carringer; sisters, Mary Grace Palmer, Francis Carringer and Cherlene Green; and grandson, Jay Arrowood.
Faye is survived by her husband, Gene Guffey; daughter, Joy Rose; son, Eddie Arrowood and stepson, David Guffey; sister, Kathy Duckworth; grandchild, Angie Rich; great-grandchildren, Wendy (Adam) Ward and Channyn (Levi) Killian; great-great-grandchildren, Addyson Ward, McKenna Ward, Ellyana Ward and Oaklee Killian. Many additional extended family and friends also survive.
Faye was truly known for her servant spirit as she reached out to others in need. Helping others was a primary focus in her life. She always spoke her mind being very open and honest.
Mrs. Guffey truly enjoyed preparing meals for family and others. Seeing others enjoy a good meal was a great pleasure to her.
Faye found solace in working in her yard while she enjoyed God's created beauty of nature that surrounded her. She loved her home and church being faithful in both.
Faye was devoted to her loving husband, Gene, and her family. She is a presence that will surely be missed by many.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, at Old Fashioned Baptist Church in Murphy. Pastor Hoyt Brown officiated the service and music was provided by Old Fashioned Baptist Church Choir. Interment followed the service in Old Fashioned Baptist Church Cemetery. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Michael Carringer, Tracey Palmer, Mark Taylor, Levi Killian, Adam Ward and Todd Geer. Honorary pallbearers were Ray Cook, Charles Hogsed and Jr. Palmer.
The family shared a time of visitation with friends from 2-3:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, prior to the 4 p.m. funeral service hour at Old Fashioned Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations in memory of Faye be made to Old Fashioned Baptist Church.
