Lillian Schoonmaker Obituary
In February 1940, Lil married Spencer Schoonmaker. They had two daughters, Sharon who passed in 2023, and Beverly who lives in NC. Lil kept the books for the family business and had a loving partnership with Spence till his passing.
Outside her home, she had time to support the fire company. She was proud to have been awarded a lifetime membership to the Shawangunk Valley Fire Company's Ladies Auxiliary. She also supported the Reformed Church of Shawangunk. If you ever attended a Senior Luncheon or Chicken barbecue you'd find her happily at work in the kitchen.
Along with many loving friends and family, Lil is survived by daughter, Beverly, and grandson, Morgan. Lil will be remembered for her smile and her laugh. It was hearty and infectious. Her warmth. If you walked into her house, she'd greet you with a smile and the smell of something delicious baking in the oven. She had a generous heart and a kind soul.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, December 27th, 2025, at the Reformed Church of Shawangunk at 12:00pm. Reception to follow.
