Lillian Marie Shumaker, born on January 15, 1932, in Yazoo City, Mississippi, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 2, 2025, in Southaven, Mississippi. Lillian was a woman who embodied reliability and dependability, known for her spit-fire personality and honest demeanor. She was a resilient woman who faced life’s challenges with grace and strength.
Lillian was a devoted Christian, having been saved in the Lord, and she lived her faith as a proud member of the Baptist community. She found joy in simple pleasures such as cooking, baking, and tending to her beautiful flower garden. She also enjoyed the mental challenges of crossword puzzles and sudoku, activities that stimulated her sharp mind.
Throughout her life, Lillian cherished her role as a mother and grandmother. She was particularly proud of her children, Paul Carter, Ronald Carter, and Greg Shumaker, as well as her grandchildren: Jennifer (William) Burch, Solomon Carter, Jacob Carter, Michael Carter, Anita (John) Grace, Stephen (Annie) Carter, and Chastity Carter. Lillian loved her family deeply and cherished every moment spent with them.
She is predeceased by her parents, Robert and Ida Jane Johnson, her beloved spouse Jimmy Shumaker, and her siblings. Lillian leaves behind a host of family and friends who hold dear memories of her warmth and spirit.
Visitation will be held on December 5, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at The Carter Memorial Chapel at Twin Oaks Funeral Home, located at 290 Goodman Road East, Southaven, MS 38671. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM, with burial taking place at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home at 2:00 PM. Lillian's legacy of love and resilience will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
