Lillian Dora (Charles) Stephens, 94, of Pottstown, PA, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at her home. She was the wife of Henry Stephens, with whom she shared many years of marriage until his death.
Born in Pottstown, PA, on July 8, 1931, Lilian, affectionately known as “Dora Mae” to family, was the oldest daughter of the Late Isabella (Moore) Charles and the late Reverend James E. Charles.
Lillian attended the Pottstown School District. She was employed with Beta Shoe Company in Aberdeen, Maryland, and was the Co-owner of a cleaning company in Fort Benning, Georgia, before retiring to become a homemaker.
She was an active member and sang in the choir at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Phenix City, Alabama, before moving back home to be with her family.
Lillian is lovingly remembered by her children; Bruce Charles (Charlene), Denise Birckhead, Roberta Feltenberger (Gary), Stacey Strong, Lenora Richardson; her grandchildren; her siblings, Martha Campbell (Lloyd), Charles Charles (Francis), and John Charles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Lillian was preceded in death by her daughter, Rosalind (Charles) Gibbons, and grandson Anthony Gibbons; her brothers, James E. Charles, Theodore Charles, Garyland Charles (Barbra), Arthur Charles, William Charles (Thelma); her sisters, Yvonne (Charles) Maldonado, Linda (Charles) Brown, Neva (Charles) Hudson, and Edna Douglas.
