Lillian Zendler Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 15, 2025.
Lillian Mae Zendler, age 79, of Milton, DE, formerly of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family in the comfort of her home.

Born in Philadelphia on December 25, 1945, Lillian was a Christmas blessing to her parents, the late Walter and Dorothy (Simmons) Basher. Throughout her life she worked in many roles, but her time as bookkeeper and office manager for Mike Makowski General Contractor was especially meaningful, as it brought her friendships that she cherished deeply.

Lillian lived with a full heart and a joyful spirit. Before her illness, she was a devoted parishioner at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church in Millsboro. She had a natural desire to serve and never hesitated to support veterans in any way she could. She found happiness in simple pleasures-days at the beach, shopping trips, and the fun of visiting local casinos. At home, she loved watching NASCAR and wrestling, but her greatest joy was always time spent with her family. Their presence was her treasure.

In addition to her parents, Lillian was preceded in death by her daughter, Catherine Uzdevenes; her brother, Leroy Basher; and her sister, Elizabeth Simmons. She leaves behind her loving husband, Ronald A. Zendler; her son, Charles Macauley, Jr.; and her daughters, Dorothy Stinson and Dawn Settine (Richard). Lillian's legacy continues through her four grandchildren-Steven Cox, Crystal Uzdevenes, April Smith (Travis), and Louis Macauley (Lyia Massey); her eight great-grandchildren; and Alex Makowski and Willey Makowski (Paige), whom she lovingly considered grandchildren. She is also remembered fondly by several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Lillian's beautiful life will be held at a later date.
