Lillie Calloway Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home - Columbia on Dec. 16, 2025.
Mrs. Lillie Goins Calloway was a woman of boundless energy, unwavering faith, and quiet strength. She was born on April 30, 1942, to the late Henry Goins and Anne Evans Goins, in Winnsboro, South Carolina, and peacefully departed from this life on Sunday, December 14, 2025, in Columbia, South Carolina.

Over the course of her 83 years, Lillie touched countless lives through her wisdom, generosity, and steadfast devotion to serving others. She embodied perseverance, particularly through her many years of pioneer service, living her life with purpose and conviction. Her faith was the foundation of who she was and how she showed up in the world.

After graduating from C. A. Johnson High School, Lillie dedicated her professional life to public service, working as a mental health specialist. She faithfully served the State of South Carolina for 31 years before retiring, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and care for those she served.

Lillie was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on June 28, 1980, an active pioneer, serving as a full-time minister in the Lake Elizabeth Congregation until her passing and was known for her endless thirst for knowledge and her sincere pursuit of truth. She remained deeply committed to her faith, faithfully attending Christian meetings at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, where her presence and example were a source of encouragement to many.

During her spare time she enjoyed making drapes and pillows. She also enjoyed international travel and was an excellent baker.

In addition to her parents, Lillie was preceded in death by her siblings, Mamie Goins Hopkins, Robert Goins, Essie Carter, Albert Goins, and Willie Goins.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Nathaniel Calloway; her children, Yvonne Nadine Calloway, Yolanda Calloway Nwaiwu, and Nathaniel Calloway Jr.; her brother, James Goins; cousins, Clara Branch and Mario Branch; her niece and nephew, Theresa Hopkins and Wayne Hopkins; and her beloved grandchildren; and great-grandchildren, Darius Calloway, Andre Blackwell, Alexis Nwaiwu, Justin Nwaiwu, Devanir Griffin-Brown, and August King Calloway; her spiritual family, and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends.
