It is with profound sadness that the family of Mr. Lilous Eugene "Arkie" Kennedy, 92, of Luthersville, announces his death on Monday, October 13, 2025, at his home.
Mr. Kennedy was born March 22, 1933, in Quitman, Arkansas, son of the late Vergie Beshears Kennedy and Steve Kennedy. He retired in 1990 as an area specialist from Owens-Illinois in Hapeville, where he was well-respected by his co-workers and supervisors. A resident of Meriwether County for 48 years, he was a cattle farmer and enjoyed gardening and glass-making.
He is loved and will be missed by so many and is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marjorie Kennedy of Luthersville; daughters, Cynthia Kennedy of Stockbridge, Connie Cox of Jackson, Toni Stewart (Roger) of Union City, IN; son, James Kennedy (Tammy) of Wesley Chapel, FL; step-children, Doug Brantley of Fayetteville, Deborah Gardner of Jackson, Gerald Brantley of McDonough, Gloria Burkett of St. Louis, MO, Lisa Whitted of Winchester, IN; sister, Nelda Prescott of Winchester; and a number of adoring grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, including his grandchildren, Erin Ludmer and Joshua Wendell, that he and Marjorie raised.
Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by his daughter, Kindra Callahan; sons, Steve Kennedy, Tim Pack, and Eldon Kennedy; grandson, Tommy Kennedy; great-granddaughter, Mia Burger; his first wife, Lois Kennedy; step-daughter, Cheryl Templeton; step-son, Danny Brantley; brother, Jerald Hulen Kennedy; and special brother in-law, Don Prescott.
The family and friends will celebrate the life of Mr. Kennedy at a funeral service to be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 16, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, The Reverend Byrom Martin will officiate and interment will be in Luthersville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Thursday, prior to the service.
