Lina "Iupeli" Sefo Mageo
July 25, 1956 – April 23, 2024
On Tuesday evening, surrounded by her kids, grandkids, and loving family, Lina Sefo Mageo
took her final breath and returned home to her Father in Heaven. She spent her last days being
lovingly cared for by her daughter and son-in-law, Va'imaila and Fisi Tu'atonga, in their home,
along with their five children who loved their Grandma very much and served her faithfully.
Lina was born in Fagatogo, American Samoa on July 25, 1956 to Sefo Falaniko and Savai'inaea
Va'imaila Ietitaia Fa'amausili. She was raised lovingly by her mother and father – Fa'amausili
Tavita. The family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and moved to
California in 1969. While in California the family welcomed many extended family members
and the house was always full of laughter, food, and love. The family later settled in Murray,
Utah in 1994. The home in Murray was home base for all of the extended family in Utah and
Sunday dinners were looked forward to every week. Lina lovingly cared for her mother in her
last days, and devoted her life to her family. She was endowed in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple
in 2019.
Lina graduated from Santiago High School. She went on to work as a mortgage loan underwriter,
and other various occupations over the years, but enjoyed caring for her family most. She was
happiest playing her ukulele and singing with her family, laughing and telling stories. Every
occasion was celebrated with anyone who could attend, no invitation necessary. Her children
were her greatest blessings and nothing gave her more joy than welcoming each of her seven
Grandchildren. She shared a bond with each of them, and they all had a turn being her favorite.
Lina is survived by her sisters, Malia Falaniko and Loma Stowers, brother Daniel Fa'amausili
(Crystal); children Jeddy Allen Peko, Jason David Peko (Kristen), and Va'imaila Tu'atonga
(Fisi); grandchildren Melissah, Fisi Jr., Viliami, Deyannah, and Dave Tu'atonga; Liliana and
Jaedyn Peko. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family,
whom she loved with all her heart.
Lina is preceded in death by her father and mother, brothers Sefo Falaniko and David
Fa'amausili, sisters Nellie Sefo and Deborah Fa'amausili, and a niece, Tamara Nu'usila.
The family would like to thank all of the extended family and friends who have shown their love
and support over the past week. Your kindness and generosity is forever appreciated.
Services will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Oquirrh 11 th Ward, 5154 West
70000 South, West Jordan, Utah 84081. Interment at Herriman City Cemetery.
