Lincoln Wayland Craighead Jr.

Lincoln Wayland Craighead, Jr., 76, of Wrentham, MA, passed away on March 21, 2026, from complications of ozone exposure.

Born in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of the late Lincoln Wayland Craighead, Sr. and Mary Evelyn (Donworth) Craighead.

Lincoln spent his formative years in Fairfield, CT, graduating from Roger Ludlowe High School in 1968. He attended Lafayette College and graduated with a BA in 1972.

Lincoln led an adventurous life which included farming in Nova Scotia, serving as first mate, delivering a boat from Stamford, CT to Singapore; captaining charter boats in the Caribbean and tug boats in the Gulf of Mexico and Boston Harbor. In later years he was engaged in numerous business ventures in Vermont and Massachusetts. He loved adventure, particularly on the water. He faced all challenges with a determination to overcome them.

Lincoln is survived by his sisters, Evelyn Carey Craighead, Caroline Donworth Craighead, and Laura Susan Craighead, brother-in-law Peter Reich, niece Cicely Reich-Staniulis, Cicely's husband Jason Staniulis, great nephew Elliot Staniulis, stepsister Cynthia Smith, stepsister Tracy VanBuskirk, stepbrother-in-law Peter VanBuskirk, and stepbrother Andrew Smith, all of Connecticut; nephew Carey Reich and stepniece Elisa VanBuskirk of San Francisco, California; and stepnephew Dana VanBuskirk of Deer Isle Maine. The family would also like to recognize Lincoln's biological son, Brian Buckley, who was able to connect with Lincoln just recently.

Services for Lincoln will be private.
