Linda Combs Akins, 77, of Ulster Park, NY, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. She was born on December 10, 1946, in Troy, NY, daughter of the late Lynn and Marjorie (Lucas) Combs.
She graduated from nursing school in 1967, becoming a Registered Nurse. She worked at Benedictine Hospital for many years and later became a Certified Case Manager.
Linda was a dedicated member of the Wiltwyck Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution in Kingston for 42 years where she had served as Chapter Regent. She was currently NYS Parliamentarian for DAR, and Treasurer of the Wiltwyck Chapter. She was also a member of the Mayflower Society. Linda loved DAR and the many lifetime friendships she made along the way. She was also a long-time board member of the Ulster Federal Credit Union, where she was currently serving as Chairman. Linda loved spending summers at her family cabin on Upper Saranac Lake, hosting her family Christmas Eve party for over 50 years, and keeping her candy dish full for anyone who visited.
She is survived by her sons, Tom Akins and David (Beth) Akins, her grandchildren, Rebecca, Nicholas, Ashley, Samantha, Mackenzie, Kindall, Amelia, and Harlie, her 12 great grandchildren, her siblings, Gil Combs, Carol (Mike) Bauer, and Beth (Phil Knapp) Keyser, and her dear friend, Wes Seche. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her siblings, Donna Combs and Donald Combs, and her sister-in-law, Linda Combs.
Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 4pm to 7pm. The funeral service will take place at 10am on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow in Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston, NY.
