Linda A. Alexander

 Funeral services for Mrs. Linda A. Alexander will be conducted at 1:00 in the afternoon, Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the Calvary Pentecostal Church in Jayess, with interment following in the Calvary Cemetery.  Reverend L. R. Bowling will officiate, assisted by Reverend Elliot Rutland.  Mrs. Alexander, age 80, entered into the eternal rest of her Lord Monday morning, October 10, 2023, at her home in Jayess.  Saulters Moore Funeral Home, Hughes Funeral Service, LLC has been entrusted with arrangements.

The Alexander family will receive friends Saturday, October 14, beginning at 10:00 AM until 12:45 PM at Calvary Pentecostal Church.

Mrs. Alexander will be carried to her final rest by her pallbearers; they include Carl Parsons, Alex Parsons, Clay Smith, Devin Smith, Tim Thornhill and Eric Thornhill.

Linda A. Alexander was born on September 28, 1943, in Lawrence County, MS to Rex and Era Carney Armstrong. 
After attending Topeka School, Linda pursued her passion for caring for others by earning a degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse from Southwest Junior College in Summit.  She went on to make a profound impact in the field, spending years working as a nurse at Walthall General Hospital in Tylertown and Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb, where she retired.  It was through her compassion and skill that she brought comfort to countless patients during their times of need.

Linda's family was at the center of her world and her children and grandchildren have precious memories which are now locked away as treasures in a memory vault. They fondly recall how their mother took them to the creek to swim—a simple joy that left an indelible mark on their hearts.  Another cherished memory is their mother's tradition of ensuring each child and grandchild had Hershey's Kisses for Valentine's Day—an act of sweetness that captured her caring nature.  Also, family gatherings during holidays held a special place in Linda's heart, especially Christmas. Her home would be adorned with a beautifully trimmed tree, radiating warmth and joy; the room overflowing with presents carefully wrapped with love for each family member.  These fun holidays were always centered around her table, where love abounded, joy was in great supply and they could always count on being treated to her famous Watergate salad and delectable 4-Layer pudding.

Beyond her dedication to family and career, Linda possessed many talents and interests that brought her immense joy. Sewing was one of her greatest passions; she poured love into creating baby blankets, clothes, and even intricate wedding dresses for loved ones. Tending to a garden and raising vegetables was something else she enjoyed greatly.   Additionally, Linda made it a priority to visit relatives in Wetumpka, Alabama, cherishing those moments with family as often as she could.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Alexander is preceded in death by her brothers, Burlon Armstrong, Jerry Pat Armstrong; sister, Gail McLeod and her son-in-law, Billy Wayne Smith and her step-mother, Opal Armstrong.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her husband of 66 years, Randolph Alexander of Jayess; 2 daughters, Angela Lyn Smith and Sherrie A. (Carl) Parsons, both of Jayess; son, Randy C. (Judy) Alexander of Monticello and 2 sisters, Phylis Thornhill and Joan Pounds, both of Foxworth.  The legacy of their Mawmaw will also live on through her grandchildren, Clay Smith, Lyn Smith, Devin Smith, Kayla (Ryan) Williams, Grace Ann Alexander, Breelee Alexander, Alex (Melissa) Parsons, Nita Parsons; 12 great-grandchildren and an expected great-grandson, as well as an expected great-granddaughter.
