Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beyers Funeral Home & Crematory - Leesburg on Feb. 24, 2026.
Linda (Bergstrom) Ameri, 77, of
Leesburg, FL, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, following a sudden and brief illness. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend whose warmth touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Born in Indiana to Swedish immigrant parents, Linda carried forward a deep appreciation for family, tradition, and connection. In the mid-1960s, she met Lorenzo "John" on a double date arranged by mutual friends. A few years later, they were married - beginning a partnership that would span nearly 60 years. They were constant companions, confidants, and each other's steady presence through every season of life.
Though Linda pursued a professional career, being a wife and mother was her true passion and purpose. She poured herself into her family with joy and intention. She had a gift for making each person in her life feel uniquely valued. Whether hand-delivering birthday and anniversary cards to friends and neighbors or remembering the smallest personal details, Linda made sure no one felt forgotten.
A proud Hoosier, Linda had a deep love of professional sports - especially the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. In retirement, she and John traveled the country together to watch live games, blending her love of sport with her love of shared experience.
Linda was an avid reader with an extensive home library, always ready to lend a beloved book and eagerly discuss its themes. She treasured puzzling with her daughters, time spent around the table piecing together both jigsaw puzzles and life's conversations.
Music filled her home and her spirit. Blessed with a natural ear, she could play piano by ear, and it was common to find her in the kitchen singing and dancing along to the radio - a quiet celebration of everyday joy.
She is survived by her daughters, Vicki (Herb) Allen and Erica (Greg) Milopoulos; sister, Christine Lorton; nieces and nephews Tammy (Geo) Arthur, Kelly (Isaac) Haglof, Tim (Anna) Lorton, and Kacey (Kristina) Lorton; and great-nieces and nephews Holly Arthur, Elliott Haglof, Rose, Amelia, and Henry Lorton, and Jonah and Felix Lorton.
Linda's life was defined by devotion, attentiveness, and a deep, abiding love for the people around her. She passed away just months after her beloved husband, John - a reflection of the bond they shared for nearly six decades. Though separated from him briefly, many take comfort in believing they are reunited once again, side by side.
She will be remembered not only for what she did, but for how she made others feel - seen, celebrated, and cherished.
A Joint celebration of life honoring Linda and John will be held on Saturday, March 14th. Family and friends wishing to attend are welcome to contact the family for details and RSVP.
