Obituary published on Legacy.com by Olpin Family Mortuary on Jul. 2, 2024.
Linda Vee Sorenson Bowers passed away June 27th, 2024. She was born January 19th, 1940, in a small house in Pleasant Grove to Floyd and Ruth Sorenson. She was the youngest of nine children, she grew up and spent most of her life in Pleasant Grove. She graduated from Pleasant Grove High School and then moved to Salt Lake City where she worked at the church office building. While living in Salt Lake, she met Julian Jay Bowers. They were married on April 24, 1965. They had three children. Soon after the kids were born, they moved back to Pleasant Grove, but later divorced.
Everything she did in her life was for someone else. She loved bringing joy to everyone she knew. She always wanted to show people that she cared about them and how special they were to her. She enjoyed making crafts of all kinds to give to friends and family. She catered many weddings and parties and made delicious chocolates that she gave as gifts for Christmas, and Christmas candy became a family tradition.
She dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her grandkids. She was their biggest fan, always encouraging them to reach for the stars, and always lovingly teaching them the things that she felt they needed to know. Respect, kindness, putting yourself in someone else's shoes, helping others, hate only hurts you, and most importantly forgiveness.
She took in friends of her kids that were going through hard times and loved them as her own. She loved being their second mom. She did the same with her grandchildren and many of their friends called her grandma. She always said, "everyone needed to feel loved, and no one could be too loved."
She loved spending time in American Fork canyon. It was a place of peace and beauty, where she could be closer to God and admire all that he created.
She is survived by her brother Larry (Kay) Sorenson, children Jason (Misty) Bowers, Julie (Hugh) Gideon, Jalin (Chris) Cox. 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren with two more on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Ruth Sorenson. Siblings Rancel Sorenson, Betty Rose, Wesley Sorenson, Dorothy Fairbourne, Kenneth Sorenson, Louis Combest, George Leonard Sorenson and grandson Jeremy Bowers.
The family would like to express their gratitude and love for Lakeview Elderly care and the exceptional care mom received while she was with you.
