Steven Boren Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Olpin Family Mortuary on Feb. 19, 2026.
Steven Lloyd Boren passed from this mortal life on Tuesday, February 17th, 2026, at home surrounded by family.

Steve was born on January 28th, 1952, to Dawna Mae Marrott and Lloyd D Boren (both deceased). He had three older sisters, Susan (Ed) Huhtala, Shawna (Cal) Leach, Sharlynn (Lynn) Walker and two younger brothers, Sterling(deceased)(Margaret) Boren and Stan (Joyce) Boren.

He was an active child involved in many sports, even hitting a homerun in the state little league championship to win the game. He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School, served in the 1457th Engineering National Guard Unit before and after his LDS Mission, to The Virginia-North Carolina Mission.

In June 1974 he met his sweetheart, Paula Hamann on a blind date. They married in the Salt Lake Temple on November 8th, 1974. They just celebrated 51 years! Together they had three daughters: Jodi (Shawn) Thomas, Christi (Jeff) Winters, Brandi (Abner) Aviles and nine grandchildren: Brooklyn (Carson) Munro, Brayden, Jordan, Tyson, and Kayli Thomas, Aspen, McKenna, and Austin Winters, Abigail Aviles, and one great-grandchild: Ledger Munro.

Throughout the years he worked at various jobs including Geneva, Novell, and retired after 20 years from BYU.

Steve's work ethic, love of learning, example, and kindness made him an amazing father. Spending countless hours at the field, court, or in the backyard watching, catching, and playing. Steve held many callings in the church and his devotion to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints made him a humble Bishop at the young age of 31. It was always clear how important the gospel was in his life.

He had struggled with health for most of his life but gained empathy and Christ-like love that knows no bounds. He was a true disciple of Christ until the end. His mission on earth may be finished but the work he will do on the other side will continue to be remarkable.
