Linda Anne Kreissler Burd, age 76, passed away January 16, 2025, at Thayer County Hospital.
Linda was born on November 11, 1948, in Deshler, NE. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Linda graduated from Deshler High School in 1967. She then attended one year of college at UNL.
Linda married Lyle Burd on April 3, 1969. They have three children: David John, Kimberly Lynn, and Corey Lee.
Linda worked at the drive-in theater and movie theater in the early '70s. In the late '70s she took a job at the Hebron Journal-Register. She loved traveling around the county taking pictures of events and writing articles for the paper. You could often find her in the dark room developing her pictures. Linda worked at the paper for over 20 years.
Lyle and Linda opened The Decorating Center in 1981 and owned it for nearly 40 years. Linda worked in the store in the early years, but "allowed" Lyle to run things in the later years.
Linda went back to College in 1999. She graduated with honors from Central Community College in 2001 with an Associate's Degree in Media Arts.
Linda was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron. She enjoyed singing in the choir, attending Bible study, women's circle, and quilting. She found great strength in her faith.
Linda loved spending time with her family, being outside in her garden, taking walks with her dogs, going to lunch with her friends, playing games on her phone, and watching old game shows on BUZZR.
Linda is survived by her husband Lyle; son David Burd and wife Tammy of Council Bluffs, IA; daughter Kimberly Fintel and husband Paul of Hebron; son Corey Burd of Hebron; five grandchildren: Kayley Gilkey and husband Aaron, Emily Springer and husband Seth, Kevin Burd and fiancé Zahira Lopez, Gabriel Fintel, and Zeke Fintel; one great-grandchild Sylas Springer; sister Marlis Gebauer; step-brother Darrell Gydesen and wife Laurie; brother-in-law John Burd; sister-in-law Jean Kutscher and husband Ken; many nieces and nephews.
Linda is preceded in death by her father Harry Kreissler and step-mother Joan; her mother Annemarie Bliss and step-father Robert; grandparents A.W. and Helene Kreissler; aunt and uncle Shirley and Jack Mullen; and in-laws John and Emma Burd, Rose and Dale Gaston, and Della Bachle.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery following the funeral. A lunch will follow the interment. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Price Funeral Home in Hebron.
