Linda Corona,100, passed away at Candlewood Valley Rehabilitation Center on Thursday April 3rd, with her brother Lawrence by her side. She was born, on December 29th, 1924 in West Houghton, England, daughter of the late Edward Broxton and Anne Thorpe. She was the oldest of seven.
During WWII, Linda met her husband Frederick Corona, a US GI stationed in Warrington Lancashire, England and they married in 1945. Fred returned to Danbury, CT as troops were sent home and later that year, Linda would travel on the Queen Mary to join him. Fred deployed to Korea and once again served his country in a theatre of conflict. Upon his return from Korea, Fred and Linda purchased their first home in Brookfield. Fred passed in 1986 but Linda made her home here in Brookfield for over 60 years.
Linda worked at the hat factory and then worked for Davis and Geck where she retired. She was the caregiver for her step-mother. After Fred's and her step-mothers passing she enjoyed many cruises with her brother, Lawrence and sister-in-law Marjorie. Linda filled her time with her membership at the Brookfield Senior Center with their many activities, as a parishioner of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys, and dancing. She especially loved line dancing.
Linda will be sadly missed by her brothers Lawrence and Harry Broxton. With both Linda and Fred coming from large families, she had many nieces and nephews in the Corona/Broxton clan and the Chadwick's in England.
She was predeceased by her brothers, James and Fred Broxton, sisters, Phoebe Chadwick and Hilda Sullivan.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, 138 Candlewood Lake Rd, Brookfield, CT on Tuesday April 15 at 11AM.
Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury, CT.

Linda was a fun companion. I enjoyed her stories, our shopping trips and especially the tea and cookies we shared after these excursions.

Linda was my friend and neighbor. We surprised her on her 95th birthday with a small party. Linda shared many of her life stories. There were so much change in the world during her remarkable life. And her Banana bread was always delicious. Fly high Linda.
